Good (insert relevant time of day) everyone. I haven't updated in a while, and I'm sure most people understand why. 6th Edition Rulebook. All my normal painting and gaming time has been wrapped up reading and rereading and rerereading that behemoth of a book. I think I've finally chewed through it enough that I feel comfortable with the changes for the most part. I wasn't really the most veteran of 40k player to start with so I'll spare you my "expert analysis" of the book for the most part, but I will say that I think my army got a lot stronger without losing anything.
Bikes are much better in 6th edition with that addition of Hammer of Wrath, and doing away with the bracketed stats... Toughness 4 (5) becomes just Toughness 5.
Painting should get back underway soon, especially since my favorite Warhammer Tournament of the year is fast approaching.... The Battle for Blob's Park. Last year I think I did pretty well as it was the first tournament I did since restarting Warhammer. I went 2 and 2 for the day and that was using the old Ogre Kingdoms book. Now that the new book is out and I have a good amount more competitive experience I think I should do better.
As of right now I have an army list that I threw together that is my starting point for this years list, I have no doubts that this will change after getting some practice games in and finding weaknesses in it, but ya gotta start somewhere.

It's a little heavy on the shooting side of things, but I'm hoping to use Magic and shooting to whittle down big units because this army is very MSU. I usually run my maneaters as Scout/Snipers which I am still debating on changing, but giving them poison does add a bit more usability to them. It's all subject to change.
As with all tournaments, I need to set myself a list of goals to have accomplished so I will know what I should be working on (even though I just want to start painting more on my Space Marines).
1. Mournfang Cavalry - I feel bad having not opened them up yet, but my painting queue was being totally dominated by Space Marines, but they're going to jump ahead of the other stuff VERY quickly.
2. Spell Markers - As you've seen previously, I cranked out some of these already, but I need more of them. The spells that have an area of effect version always ends up being cast on more units than I have spell markers.
3. Touch up's and repairs - As I am still to get myself a good set of foam to transport my troops around in, things get a little scratched up over time, plus there's not a single model in my army that couldn't stand to have the paintjob improved on them.
4. Improve Display Board - Right now it's serving it's purpose, which is to get me some free points in the paint score and help me carry my army around. I'd like to jazz it up a bit with some terrain or something.
5. Practice, Practice, Practice - Seems kind of dumb to list but maybe if it's on the list I'll do it. The scenarios are out so I am going to try and see if I can figure out the best way to use my army in them.
Sorry that this post is just me ranting. If you're still reading at this point, here's a funny picture.
