Drones

Finished up the first 2 drones today.  I really like the way these have turned out.  I went with orange being the main part of the drone to make them stand out a bit.

I'm considering taking them off the clear flying bases and putting them on a regular round base.  I've always thought those flying bases takes something away from the army.

Fire Warriors are done

So last night I was able to finish up the fire warriors and get them on their bases.  I like the way they've turned out. They aren't award worthy, but they look good on a tabletop.

So I've decided to do Lava bases for my Tau.  I'd love to say that I came up with an original thing, but I didn't.

To give credit to the person that orignally came up with it, I learned to do it  from here.

9 of 12

So I've now got 9 of the 12 fire warriors done.  I've decided to base them in a Jungle theme.  So I've painted the base in hunter green, but I'll have to figure out how to make them look jungley.

Color Test

So I decided to paint up 1 of the Fire Warriors to make sure that I like the colors.  My only issue is that I think I need to replace my white paint.  I think its old and looks a bit clumpy in the pictures (although in person it doesn't look near as clumpy)

Battleforce is donesky.

I finished assembling my Tau Battleforce today.

The neatest part of the day was finally getting to try out the magnets.  With all my fantasy experience I never tried to magnetize anything.

Daily update

Completed assembling the fire warrior unit (forgot to take picture), did 8 of 12 Kroot, and assembled 6 drones.

Army list over lunch

Tyrant - Sword of Bloodshed, Heavy Armour, Greatskull, 2xSword Gnoblars - 311

Bruiser- Battle standard Bearer, Wailing Banner, Heavy Armour - 209

Butcher - Hell Heart - 180

7x Bulls - Standard, Champion, Musician, Lookout Gnoblar, Ironfist - 356

3xIronguts - Standard Champ musician Warbanner - 224

25x Gnoblar Fighters - Champion, 52

4xLeadbelchers - champion, musician - 240

1xScraplauncher - 165

2xManeaters, Heavy armour, 1xGreat Weapons, 1xBrace of handguns -180

1xGorger

1998 points

My favorite part of the list will be testing the tyrant in this way.  I'll be getting 8 Str 5 attacks, and 2 Strength 2 attacks at a WS of 6.  He doesn't get a ward save but the high toughness and 4+ armour save I'm hoping will do the trick.

I was thinking of putting the Tyrant with the Bulls, the BSB with the Maneaters, and the Butcher with the Ironguts.

I feel strange not taking my Hunter with me.  I've been using him as my army general for the 1000 point games  I have been playing so far.

Anyways.. thoughts suggestions ideas?  Am I an idiot?

Fire Warrior Assembly Daily Update #1

Today I managed to get 4 Fire Warriors assembled as well putting together my Kroot shaper.

Also today, my magnets arrived. As the Tau are my first warhammer 40k army, I've never really dealt with magnetizing weapons so this should be interesting.

Well I'm putting the tools away for the day.  G'night all.

The very humble beginnings of my Tau Army

Character Ogre / My first semi-successful attempt to make something with Greenstuff

I was thinking that I didn't have any Bruiser/Tyrant models for my army, and because I hate the standard Tyrant model (not to mention that its 40.00)  I decided it was on me to make one.  I used the standard ogre legs, the gutplate from ironguts, the right arm w/ cleaver from the butcher, the head of a butcher, and for the left arm I used the sickle looking two hand weapon from the ironguts, but removing the 2nd hand.

I have always loved the idea of using green stuff to make things but in my 10 or so years of wargaming all I could ever make was rocks...  So I decided to give it another go by throwing a Green stuff cape on my model.

With the way the model was positioned I thought if I gave the cape a kind of flowing position it would look a little better so using a pack of staples I pinned by the outside flap of the cape.  After drying for a day and half, I primed.

Then I painted the model.

This is a sort of project log of the different wargames and stuff that I do.  My goal is to upload a picture or two every day of my work.  Not because I'm any good at it, but because it keeps me motivated to do it.
